Uniform flow over the adsorbable surface is a basic requirement with regard to the adsorber performance, because only with the entire capacity of the adsorbing surface it can be used effectively. Highest adsorbtion rates and bio-compatibility are no less important then the increase of adsorber capacity and life time.
Using advanced numerical simulation, our company is able to predict 3-dimensional processes in adsorbers, like flow fields, mass transfer and adsorption rates accurately. Both, the microscopic region near the adsorber matrix with its flow and adsorption processes and the macroscopic processes which describe the main flow and concentration fields are investigated.

Beside a deeper understandig of the spatial and time-dependent flow and adsorption processes, numerical simulation can additionally provide information concerning haemocompatibility in terms of cell damage or blood deposition.

The variation of geometry, material properties, concentration, adsorber material and carrier material, which influence the performance and bio-compatibility of the adsorber, can be investigated effectively and fast using a suitable numerical simulation model.

By reducing the number of prototype series drastically, shortening the development time and decreasing production costs, a considerable economic potential can be offered by this method.
