Structural analysis of hip joint prostheses

During development of orthopaedic implants (e.g. hip or knee joints) a lot of questions concerning sufficient strength, choice of optimal geometric parameters, interactions between bone and implant and the displacements of the structure need to be answered.

ASD GmbH is able to answer these questions during the first development phases in a comparably short time using the Finite Element Method - FEM.

The stress displacements and the interactions between bone and implant at the contact area can be investigated on the basis of contact friction between bone and the family. The loosening behaviour and implant working life is strongly influenced by the interaction.

The results give information about the expected behaviour of the implant in clinical use. A numerical investigation of this type is an important part of a efficient implant development, a successful product registration and an optimised marketing.
