Automotive engineering
In general is the automotive industry with its versatile facets beside the aircraft industry a pioneer in the utilisation of modern engineering simulations. The ever increasing requirements in the areas of minimisation of pollutants, fuel reduction, passenger compartment climatisation, safety and comfort for passengers, strength, vibrations and acoustics lead to a high demand on research and development activities.
The aim of computer-based simulations in automotive applications is, therefore, the fast and effective application of existing know how in the various development areas to enable a dynamic optimisation of various products and components.
Beside the methods of numerical flow simulation and numerical structure analyses, ASD also provides coupled simulations, e.g. the modelling of fluid-structure-interactions (FSI), to automobile manufacturers and their suppliers. With its specific know how in biomechanics, the company can also predict the behaviour of car passengers, for example in crash situations, with related software tools.
As result of the numerical simulations with efficient parameter variations and an impressive visualization, target-aimed recommendations can be given to optimise ambitious flow processes or complex component load cases. Research projects of our customers are, thus, effectively supported with ASD's virtual prototyps.
